LinC – Love in the Name of Christ

The community of Alstonville is being assisted through anorganisation called LinC which consists of a network of churches and service agencies in the area, linking human needs with human resources, through a Phone Referral Centre run by volunteers.

LinC is an organisation established to support people in the community who may not be able to access assistance through Government agencies for ordinary, everyday services. A LinC branch was established in Alstonville as a way of living out Gospel values and to be of service to people in our community.

LinC supports people in the community in a variety of ways. LinC volunteers provide transport for clients to medical appointments, assist with weekly shopping for the housebound and visit people in their homes. These types of services are not always available, especially for the aged, or for families who do not have the support of their extended family, or for those new to the area.

St Vincent de Paul Society – (Vinnies Shop – 25 Commercial Road Alstonville)

The St Vincent de Paul Society is a lay Catholic organisation that inspires to live the Gospel message by serving Christ in the poor with love, respect, justice, hope and joy by working to shape a more just and compassionate society.

The St Vincent de Paul Society aspires to be recognised as a caring Catholic charity offering “a hand up”to people in need. We do this by respecting their dignity, sharing our hope, and encouraging them to take control of their own destiny.

Are you looking for an opportunity to put your faith into action? Three hours a week is all it takes.

Join Us – Become a Vincentian

Each week at our Referral Centre and Vinnie’s Shop, volunteers assist many families and individuals locally with:-

  • Food
  • Finances
  • Clothing and
  • A sympathetic ear.

WITHOUT our help, many of these families would be unable to enjoy the most basic human needs such as:-

  • Power for lighting, cooking, refrigeration, cooling and warmth,
  • Groceries to feed the family,
  • A telephone for emergencies
  • A rood over their heads

We offer assistance to help break the cycle of poverty and disadvantaged in our local community.

Meeting times for Our Lady of the Rosary Conference Alstonville: Each Monday 7.00 pm at the Parish Centre (excluding School Holidays).
